It was hosted by the lovely little restaurant, The Filling Station Cafe in Old Town Orange. If you're looking for a way to spend a Sunday afternoon, I definitely recommend stopping by for lunch then wandering through all of the antique stores that line the streets.

This event featured adorable kids and their pooches and all proceeds will be donated to Barks of Love, a non-profit dedicated to finding homes for dogs and cats that have been saved from shelters. I met some wonderful people and really enjoyed seeing the kids and dogs strut their stuff! The other fantastic judges were:

It's such an amazing organization, helping hundreds of people who have physical and mental disabilities. I've blogged about my weekly rides before and you can catch up on it here. I've also photographed Emerson before, the Shea Center's facility dog,  but he's now a little older and wiser and Trish wanted to get some new photos with him. I always enjoys spending time with Emerson! He's sweet and cuddly and it doesn't hurt that he is really, really well trained :-)

I thought I'd also share a short video that shows how he's involved with clients at the Shea Center. This client walked the farthest she ever has, to get to Emerson! He has a profound effect on people that work with him everyday. Here's the video along with the slideshow from our session!

Kristin has always been very allergic to dogs, but when she met her now husband Brian, she made the decision to get allergy shots, so that they could one day have a dog. A few years and may shots later, Kristin and Brian became pet parents! On an unrelated note, I always like to ask how parents come up with the names for their dogs, so many have a story behind them. Parker is named after Charlie Parker, one of Brian's favorite jazz musicians.

Well, we had a lovely afternoon taking photos at Kristin and Brian's home, then wandering around the parks in Ladera Ranch. If you would like to see more, here is their slideshow.

He's only 10 weeks old, but Kim, his mom, was telling me stories of how he already finds his way into the bathroom and likes to drag an entire role of toilet paper throughout the house! My favorites are below, but to see more here is his slideshow.

Just a week after our session Kim let me know that Max was really sick. He spent a number of days at the vet as they tried to figure out what was wrong. Finally they determined that it was a bone disease called Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy. As you can imagine it was a nerve racking few days for Kim, as they weren't sure if Max was going to make it. My heart was aching for her and Max and I shed a few tears, hoping he would be alright. Then when I heard that he had pulled through and was going to be OK, I was so relieved and thankful. He's now back to his normal self, dragging toilet paper through the house! 

Look at those paws! He's going to be a big boy.

What's funny that it's on the corner of two busy streets in Orange County, the last place I'd expect to see a field full of flowers that are at least 3 feet tall. Last year I wanted to take pictures of Missy in the flowers, but waited too long and they were cut down, so this year I decided I was going to make it happen!

We woke up early on a beautiful Saturday morning and had a great time frolicking through the wildflowers. I'm really glad we actually went out and got these pics. They're some of my new favorites of Missy and the hubs. :)

The main focus of the Capistrano Valley Chapter is to support the students in the elementary and middle schools within the Capistrano Unified School District in south Orange County. For their annual fundraising event, I donated a photo package for the silent auction.

Becky, Chloe's mom, was given the package as a gift from her friend, who had won the silent auction. I think that's so cool! When I met Becky she seemed excited for the photo session and clearly loves her sweet girl, Chloe. We spent a little time looking at pics of Chloe when she was a puppy, it's always fun to see puppy pictures!

Chloe is a Cavalier King Charles who loves her toys, loves her mom and looks stylish with her blinged out pink tag and collar :-) It was a wonderful afternoon and if you would like to see more of Chloe, here is the slideshow.

As Barbara, their Mom described them, "Trey is a mix lab with a white patch on his chest and is very serious about fetch. Kobe is all lab and is all about messing with Trey" and this couldn't have been more true! Kobe was always trying to sneak up and steal Trey's tennis ball. When we'd throw the ball, Kobe would get a head start on Trey, trying to get the ball before he did! Needless to say, we had a lot of fun during out shoot! She's a 10 week old pit bull mix that Lisa and Frank recently adopted through the rescue organization New Beginnings for Animals. LuLu's mom was found on the side of a road and gave birth a few weeks later to a very cute litter of pups.

Lisa and Frank picked LuLu because she was the alpha female of the pack. They wanted a confident, playful, smart dog and I think that's just what they got! Not to mention she is soft and snuggly with a few extra wrinkles that make her irresistible! She's also already crate trained and LOVES her crate. She likes dragging toys into her crate, and then falls asleep with all of her toys surrounding her :-) I really enjoyed being able to spend time with LuLu, Lisa and Frank, taking LuLu's first pictures. We recently had a free weekend, so we decided to pack up and head to the Anza-Borrego Desert. I know the desert doesn't sound like somewhere you may want to go camping, but there's something so peaceful and beautiful about desert terrain. Definitely made for great picture taking! Dogs are also allowed at the campsites so Missy got to come with us! She had so much fun exploring, chasing lizards and laying by the camp fire while we roasted marshmallows.

The weather was nice for the most part, with lots of sunshine, a little rain, and a lot of wind in the evenings but that didn't stop us from having a great time! We did have to tie the tent to the car so we didn't blow away, but that's part of the adventure, right? :-)

There was a bit of rain, so it gave Missy a chance to try out her awesome new rain coat!

She belongs to a friend and came along on a recent trip we took to Solvang. She spent the day with us, so I had to take the opportunity to snap a few pics of her. 

You can imagine how much attention she got as we walked down the street. Mainly due to her size but also because she's so beautiful! Great Danes seem like such a regal breed to me and everything about Zoe was poised and elegant. While wine tasting, we came across an amazing tree lined street, which couldn't have been a more perfect setting to take some pics of Zoe. I promise, it's not a backdrop :-)

Zoe decided to take it easy and have a seat on this nifty bench ;-)

We first took a few pics of Mollie on the bed in her favorite spot, where she likes to snuggle up in blankets and look at the birds outside the window. Then we headed to a park where she got lots and lots of pets from kids that were playing in the park. As you can imagine, she didn't seem to mind one bit!

Overall it was a beautiful day and Mollie just glowed in the nice afternoon light. We also had a chance to get some great moments of Mollie with her parents, which I always love to do. If you would like to see more from Mollie's session, here is the slideshow!

Angela and her fiance, Eric found Fillmore through the SF SPCA and named him after the street in SF where they first lived together. This is particularly special for them as they're high school sweethearts, who went to different colleges, had a long distance relationship and finally ended up together in SF!

Fillmore is an adorable, scruffy little guy and we think he is a Shorgi (Shitzu-Corgi). We only had time to take a few pics inside, but he sure did work it for the camera!

Then I got to photograph her precious Maggie, who has since passed away. So when Joy emailed me to share that they had two new loves in their life, I couldn't have been more thilled to do a session with all of them.

Izzy and Bella are 6 month old, half sisiter, Schnoodle's (Schnauzer/Poodle). I was very impressed with their manners from the start of the session. To get two 6 month old puppies to sit together for more then 5 seconds is no easy feat, but these two listened well to their parents, holding a pose while I snapped away! It helps that Izzy and Bella seem like best buds, always jumping over one another and using each other as a pillow! Below are a few favorites from the afternoon and here is their slideshow if you would like to see more!

]]>Gracie, Gunner Guinness & Oliverhttp://www.whinnyandsnap.com/blog/2010/10/31/gracie-gunner-guinness-oliver.htmlJenna2010-11-01T02:25:43Zphoto shootsGuinness, Gracie, Gunner and Oliver were a very fun bunch that I had the pleasure of photographing a few weeks ago. And their mom, Susan, is another wonderful individual who I came in contact with through the Shea Center.  

Since they are a large bunch, I decided to spend some time with the dogs individually, so I could really get to know them. What I learned is that Gracie, the Lab loves treats and will sit for hours to get one. Gunner, the Australian Shepherd is a bit obsessed with balls and will play all day long. Guinness' favorite pastime is chasing the rabbits and squirrels in the yard - he's the West Highland Terrier. And Oliver, the Corgie is the older and wiser one of the group, who moved a little slower then the others but was still full of spunk! When he didn't want to be bothered by the other dogs, he had no problem telling them so. You'll see one of those moments below, in an outtake pic :-) I had a great time with this group and if you would like to see more, here is the slideshow!

]]>Ollie and Kathyhttp://www.whinnyandsnap.com/blog/2010/10/4/ollie-and-kathy.htmlJenna2010-10-05T04:44:17Zphoto shoots the shea centerEvery Tuesday evening you'll find me volunteering at the Shea Center, which is where I first met Ollie and Kathy. Kathy is part of the awesome Shea Center staff and Ollie is her very handsome warmbloood gelding who she imported from Europe. She brought him "over the pond" as they say to be a jumper for her daughter, but Kathy and Ollie now spend most of their time cruising around the dressage arena.

Ollie was Mr. Photogenic and couldn't take a bad picture, except in the moments when his mouth was wide open as he was trying to eat every plant within reach! But there were many more really cute moments between Ollie and Kathy, especially when he was snuggling close looking for the peppermints in her pockets :-) To see more, here is their slideshow!
