Megan and Rusty

It's been a while since my last horse shoot, so I was really excited when I was asked to do a shoot with Megan and her horse Rusty!  Megan recently turned 16 and her friends gave her a photo session with her horse as a birthday present!  How thoughtful is that!? She has some very cool friends!

Rusty and Megan are a dynamic duo that ride with the Dana Smith Riding Group in San Juan Capistrano.  Dana Smith's barn is at the Rancho Sierra Vista Stables, a large facility that gave us lots of great places to shoot!  After a few minutes of shooting we walked to another part of the stables, which for some reason Rusty found to be very exciting, and he got a little frisky.  Megan handled him without any problem, but we thought it might be a good idea to give him a quick turn out to see if he had any bucks in him.  Megan said he isn't normally one to play when turned out, but not on this day!  He was very happy to have the chance to run, buck and play! A quick 5 minutes was all he needed and then he was perfect for the rest of the afternoon!

I had a great time shooting with and getting to know Megan and Rusty!  Happy birthday!!
