SoCal Snow Day
Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 7:45PM Last week in sunny southern California we were hit with a crazy storm. There were days of rain and even a tornado that flipped over a car! Yes, it was a small tornado, but I still can't believe it. With all of the rain we knew the local mountains must have gotten SO much snow, so Nick, Missy, and I decided to do a Snow Day!!
We got an early start to try to avoid some of the traffic. We had tire chains and didn't even think to check road conditions before leaving, and of course, we got to the base of the mountain and found that all the roads up were closed!!
All was not lost, however, since there was a little bit of snow on the ground in the little town of Yucaipa, which is right at the base of the mountains. We found a cool spot with an open field of snow and pulled of the road to take a closer look at this cold, foreign white substance. We weren't sure if Missy had ever been in snow before but she seemed perfectly comfortable. It was fun to see her jumping around and darting off after what she thought was a small animal in a tree - it was really just some snow falling from a tree! :-)
Here are some shots of Missy - she really stands out against all of the white snow!

Beautiful! What a great adventure...Missy seems right at home. Hard to believe these were shot in SoCal, looks more like the midwest!
