Emerson :: Orange County Pet Photography
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:00PM Recently I had the pleasure of doing a quick shoot with Trish and Emerson, who is the latest addition to the Shea Center staff. Emerson is the new facility dog who has been bred and trained specifically as a therapy dog. He knows 40 different commands, including "lap" where he puts his paws up on a client's lap so that they can pet and hug him and of course give them wet slobbery kisses if they are up for it. Another cool command is "visit", where he happily lays his head down on someone’s lap so they can pet him. Emerson came from the assistance dog organization, Canine Companions for Independence.
Emerson is super loving and incredibly patient. The joy he brings to peoples faces when they pet him and hug him is really touching. Before our shoot I saw Emerson interacting with some of the Shea Center's clients and it almost brought a tear to my eye. He is one amazing dog and I’m so glad Trish (Emerson's handler, pictured below) allowed me to take their picture!
Here's Emerson hard at work! :)

Can you feel the love?
